Introduction
Serendipity Residential Family Assessment Centre is a small independent and privately run service for families in difficulty. We are located in the heart of Exmouth and enjoy easy access to the town and the area’s natural surroundings.
We offer a safe environment for parents who have had problems providing safe parenting for their children. Serendipity has only 3 units, which enables us to work closely with each family. Because it is small, the Centre creates a more homely atmosphere that is not overwhelming for the families who stay here.
The assessment process is comprehensive and as open as possible for the families to question and contribute to. There is a compulsory support programme (on parenting and life skills) giving families the opportunity to make the positive choices and changes needed to live safely in the community as a family.
Prior to placement commencing a meeting will have taken place between all parties. The purpose of this is to devise a written agreement for the placement that meets the individual family’s needs and at the same time manages the known risks. We aim to ensure that all of the services we provide are sensitive to the diverse needs of each family.
Staff members at Serendipity have many years of professional experience working with families. Our main areas of expertise are working with families with alcohol & substance misuse issues, domestic violence and also with parents who have learning difficulties.
Our experienced team will produce a feeling of safety by the introduction of consistency, firm boundaries and routines which in turn promotes an environment conducive to the assessment process.
