Information for Parents
All families have their own fully-furnished Unit to share with their child(ren). There is a fridge/freezer, safe, TV/DVD and Hi-Fi in every Unit.
Incoming calls from professionals involved in the placement can be received by Serendipity and transferred to the Units.
We have baby equipment that may be borrowed; pushchairs, high chairs, sterilisers etc
Families retain their Income Support. A charge of £12 for a single parent and £15 for a couple (weekly) will be made towards utilities.
There is a subsidised washing machine and tumble dryer for families to use.
There are two communal meals per week for which a nominal charge is made.
For the safety of all residents, CCTV / audio system is operational in all communal areas.
Some Units may be monitored by an audio system and/or CCTV if stated as a requirement at the placement planning meeting.
A list of items provided by Serendipity is checked at the beginning and end of the placement.
The items in the Units are the responsibility of the residents and must be replaced should they be lost or purposely damaged. If items are stolen, the police will be informed.
Serendipity is unable to accept family pets during a placement.
Serendipity encourages residents to bring their own personal ‘knick knacks’.
Visiting is for approved visitors only on a Saturday/Sunday from 2pm - 7pm.
Serendipity is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
When it has been agreed that parents can leave Serendipity unaccompanied, it is important that staff are aware when parents go out, not only from a safety point of view, (should there be a fire), but also so messages can be taken or phone calls received in their absence. Residents are requested to sign themselves in or out on the whiteboard in the hallway, the time they leave the Unit, when they expect to return and where they are going. They must then hand their Unit keys in, to be collected when they return.
